Wills Since most LGBTQ parents in Singapore are seen as single parents in the eyes of the law, it is important that the biological parent draws up a will to ensure the non-biological parent gains guardianship of their children should anything happen to the biological parent. Citizenship is a concern when the children of LGBTQ parents are born overseas. This is especially prominent in the case of surrogacy. Children born overseas to Singaporean parents can apply for Singapore citizenship. The process takes about 1 year. In the meantime, the child can remain in Singapore on a dependant pass or permanent resident pass. It is also important to note that birth of a child in Singapore to non-Singaporeans does not automatically grant the child Singapore citizenship.
